: : 23.06.02 : Dotmusic Single Review
Here's the first of many music reviews for Beverley Knight's
new single 'Gold', this was written up by James Poletti from
Dotmusic.com.
This is what he said:
'It'd
be easy to dismiss this as Brit soul slush by numbers. But,
listen a little closer to the uninhibited 'live' feel of the
production and the doubtless genuine but cruelly cliched sentiments
on offer and a greater depth emerges. Those who have heard
Beverley Knight perform this track live will know that she
manages to tread a delicate line, injecting the song with
enough genuine passion to reign in its natural urge to err
towards the saccharine. Viewed in this light, 'Gold' is a
classic soul anthem, an Aretha-esque testament to self-belief.
And that balance is the 'Will she? Won't she?' nature of Beverley
Knight - the insecurity of British soul and its paymasters
- all-over isn't it? Have some faith.'
:
: 23.06.02 : 'Who I Am' Re-Released
'Who I Am' will be re-released tomorrow, with 'Gold' (Single
Mix) as track 14. The CD packaging will remain the same, and
enters the Woolworths album chart @ #11. Meanwhile, 'Gold'
has been tipped as 'Single Of The Week' by 'The Box'. Both
CD's will be avaliable from tomorrow morning, but this will
not include a live version of 'Get Up', 'Same (As I Ever Was)'
the album version has taken its place on CD2.

: 22.06.02 : 'Who Would U Like 2 Duet With?' - The Saturday

BBC's 'The Saturday Show'. The first question asked by Dani
Behr was sent in by me (I was completley amazed!!) I asked
'Who else would you like to duet with?! Apart from Prince,

with Arentha Franklin and in the possible future she would
like to get Ms Dynamite to MC on one of her tracks. Then BK
surprised one of her biggest fans OLIVER WOODCOCK, by calling
him up live on the show!! After the interview had finished

Rowe's site for interview and performance of 'Gold'.
