The previous concerts of Beverley really blew me away, so I knew this one would be great........and I was wrong......it was unbelievealbe great!!!I don't regret one minute spending lots of money travelling to London hehe.....before the concert started my ears were alredy sore *grin* cause Pogo played some hard base tracks....and when Rhianna entered the stage I could test if my cam was useful for concert pix (which I can answer in a simple NO!)

Rhianna had a really hard time to warm up the people.....and personally I wasn't impressed either, her voice is fine but the songs aren't that much different for me :(. I just recognized 3 songs I heard from the net....but the others....ok.....leave it up here :)

The beginning of the BK concert was different than anything else I heard or seen (internet is a fine place, isn't it??)...that mix of her tunes while the band came on stage was good....and while they were taking their position I've seen Beverley standing back on stage from my seat hehehehe and I was wooooooohoooooo it really starts ;)The setlist was different than the european gigs (what european? UK is is as well, but you know what I mean ;)!)....for example I never heard The need of you or Moving on up ...missed I feel for you :(Not sure about the "new" version of Sista Sista......it's my favourite song ever and it took me a moment to close my mouth and enjoy it *gg*While I noticed that my lyric knowledge of SWC and Gold was really low the crowd sung loud enough that it didn't matter at all........have you seen Bev? She was crying awwwwwwwww

Is it Lamar or Lemar??....whatever, the girls were screaming so loud that first I couldn't hear him singing....but Beautiful Contradiction in this way was truly great. And Black Twang (never sure about the spelling) joined for Made it back......what the men in the crowd enjoyed from the background singers I enjoyed from the guest singers LOL And it was awesome that at the end friends and fans got up on the stage and sung the final: Get up.......I think I was dancing all the time LOL

The bad thing was that I couldn't make pictures.....security staff doesn't like digicams with that little monitor flashing up :(....*sigh* but weeeheyyyy...finally I got an official BK shirt, quite expensive, but hey..... :

Katie Reports From BK Gig
Venue: UK Tour @ Southampton Guildhall, Southampton (UK)
Date: Sunday 15th December 2002

More photos taken by Katie, can be found @ www.whateversclever.cjb.net

We got off the train at about 20 to 6 and of course thought that wasn’t early enough so ran up the hill to Southampton Guildhall. We didn’t wait long and at 7 they let us in the door, my friend pounced at the ticket collecting man with her ticket and the rest of us soon followed...and guess what?! We made it to the very front, holding on to the bar. We just had time to get some signed programmes while our friends stood in our place (they're Gold!), so that we wouldn't loose our front row standing positions!

It felt like we were waiting quite a while, when Rhianna and her hair came on stage, oh yeah and her band! She was really good, but I think she needs to work on her performance a bit, but i guess that comes with experience (not that I’m an expert ;)). After Rhianna finished (with word love, which is a really good song) they cleared the stage and DJ Pogo ‘Flipped some beats’ while we were waiting - he was great, but it felt like we were standing there for hour’s lol. Finally! After some Missy E and Justin Timberlake...

Beverley Knight came on stage singing Greatest Day! And we were slightly excited. I took loads of pictures, so I hope they come out because she did come very close a lot of the time. I can’t remember the exact set list, but there was Sista Sista (love that song) and her new song Soon Come and she asked us all to sing ‘Soon Come’ when she raised her hand. And we were asked to do a lil’ dance etc...it was all good fun!! Hehe.

During Gold we showed off our homemade 'I'm Gold Babe' T-shirts as much as possible and my friend took hers off (she was wearing another one under it!) and waved it around, i'm pretty sure Bev looked at it, but if she didn't she would have been about the only one to miss it lol.

I loved ‘Need of You’ it sounded great live and also ‘Mutual Feeling’. She left the stage at one point...but of course she came back after us stamping our feet and screaming, with Shape of You (re-shaped) and Get Up!! Which we jumped a lot to, and got very warn out! The only disappointment was no Fallen Soldier or Bestseller Mystery of course! I was told I would have a good time and I had A GREAT TIME!!!

Alan Thorburn, Beverley Knight & A Kilt!
Venue: UK Tour @ Barrowland, Glasgow (Scotland)
Date: Thursday 5th December 2002

When BK shimmied onto stage tonight in Glasgow, in her tartan mini-skirt and tiny over-the-shoulder plaid, it was her thoughtful gesture to her Scottish audience "north-of-the-border". Understandably, she was welcomed with cheers of approval. :)

But, this girl can stand free on her R&B credentials. It was her positivity, energy and raw power of her voice which soared its way into our hearts down to our feet which were boppin’ and stompin’ something awful for a set which lasted 1hr 45m including some gospel moments :)

Overcoming, the oh so predicatable initial lumpy sound mix, (why is this guys?) and some failures on the lighting rigs (!!!) things eventually settled down on the sound and she took us through some much improved versions from the B-Funk and Prodigal Sista albums; a superb bluesy version of Sista Sista to her latest Wyclef Jean produced Shape Of You which was thundered out in a hypnotic groove. No need for a click track when you have Carlos Hercules on drums and Steve Walters on bass.

Launching out on her UK singles Shoulda Woulda Coulda and Gold, little did BK realise her voice would break, and she would have to sit out, as she was drowned out by the audience singing her written words back to her with "pure gold" love. She was visibly overcome and grinned cheekily from ear to ear with the pleasure. What more could we do to make her feel welcome?

After, that the party was definitely ON bigtime - Ain’t Nothing Going On But The Rent started down the runway past Flava Of The Old School, (my particular fav) a brand new track Soon Come, then allowing her backing singers full centre stage for a vocal workout and into the encore of Get Up - as if we needed the invitation! A full band bow and farewell and they were off to the after gig party - no backstage passes for me :(

Jay Driscoll - The First Knight Of UK Tour
Venue: UK Tour @ The Bristol Academy (UK)
Date: Sunday 1st December 2002

::
Gig Photo 1 :: Gig Photo 2 ::

I went to the Bristol gig last night. it was my fourth time seeing her this year, and all I can say is WOW!!!!!!! It was amazing. Sorry for the lack of detail but I was so excited that I can't recall alot of detail.

The set list was amazing too, if u thought the Who I Am tour was good, then wait till u see this tour the set list has been completly reshuffeled!!! and it was fantatsic, it was more upbeat with alot of different tracks.

She came on to 'Greatest Day' and just blew me away, she preformed a number of hits from the B Funk, including 'Flavour Of The Old School' and 'Down For The One'. From The PS album she played greatest day, made it back a remake of sista sista - which sounded amazing!!! AWOL, there may have been more but sorry cant remember!

From Who I am, I remember her doing, Beautiful Contradiction, Whatevers Clever, Gold, Get Up, Same as I ever was, Shape of you. Again they were the ones I can rememeber.

She performed the remake of Shape of you together with a new track which I can say was amazing but I am so sorry I cant remember what it was called. There was a cover of a song but again cant rememeber what it was called, that
was the only cover she did!!!!

The show was fantastic, she was on top form as always and out did everyother time I have seen her perform! (Watch out for the backing singers!)

At one point during the show some fans in the crowd gave her a teddy with a note on it which she read. it was very sweet and she cried as she read it.

When she sang Shoulda Woulda Coulda the crowd sang most of it for her, which again made her very very emotional! She broke down again and u could see the tears on her face!

There were programes for sale for £8 which I thought was good and would recommend them to any fan!

I have attached a few pics I took, they are not that good a quaility I am affraid - managed to sneak my digital cam in but it was the first time i have used it!

All the best! Jay Driscoll (Plymouth)

Jayzee Meets Miss Knight!
Venue: Gurtenfest (Berne, Switzerland)
Date: Saturday 21st July 2002

More photos taken by Jayzee @ the gig can be found right here >> http://www.jayzee.de/Beverley/gurten.html

Hey mates, I just have 3 hours of sleep behind me and my little daughter thought it's time to welcome the day *g* I was at the Gurtenfestival gig from Beverley last night and it was absolutly brilliant. Bev was touched how the fans sung along every song and if you know the MCM-version of Greatest Day you can feel how it was last night :) Forgot to write down the setlist but it wasn't that much different, I thought.

After the gig I headed into the backstage section where Beverley was signing autographs and there was the tourmanager already waiting for me. Felt like a VIP as, when he saw me, he vowed at me :).... I gave Beverley the fanbook and she was really touched about it.....I received a big warm hug and I forward this now to you *hugseveryone* hehe. Finally I even have a pic of Bev and me....it's a bit blurry, blame it to the tourmanager. I'll put the pix of the gig and the one of both of us online as soon as I'll get them (digicam from a friend!!) I pictured the fanbook as well and you'll see some pix soon too......don't hurry me ;) *g*

What can I say? I had a fantastic night as you can guess. As usual Bev was SMASHING performing on stage, but I had troubles taking pix of her as she wasn't really standing still.......you know that ;) I'm really looking forward to the London gig....can't wait to see her live again. Now I'm a live junkie, it seems LOL! OK, it gets too long now...and I should seriously get some sleep BTW, I don't know if something of the gig will be broadcasted on tv today....I hope I won't miss something.

Oliver Woodcock - Beverley Knight's Biggest Fan!
Venue: 'The Saturday Show' BBC Glasgow (UK)
Date: Saturday 22nd June 2002

Saturday Morning was the best day of my life thanks to R&B sensation Beverley Knight!

I sent an email to the Saturday Show telling them why they should pick me to chat to Bev, the next day the producer Jonathan Robinson rang me and we chatted for a bit about Bev and the show! He told me that it had been shortlisted to 3 people, so I thought i'd never get picked! All day Friday I was so excited hoping it would be me!

Saturday came and I woke at 8.00am! Then about 9.30 ish Jonathan rang me, told me between me and him that I had been selected and he had chosen me after we chatted but wanted me to be surprised!! I was sat really nervous waiting for Bev to come on...Steveys email was read out then at the end mine! It had been edited then my phone started to ring (I was told to wait for 5 rings) I picked up after 3 rings so excited but really nervous. Dani talked to me then Bev asked me a question - "My Sisters best friends brothers dog is called...Shane, no only jokin what was the name of my 1st single?' Isaid 'Flava Of The Old Skool' then Dani talked some more and Isaid bye to em'! A total NaTuRaL hIgH! Loads my friends and family rang saying u were on TV - 5mins of fame! Beverley is amazing - I was even more shocked when the phone rang, again, and the producer of the saturday show said he had another surprise.....Then Beverley came on!! She thanked me for supporting her and ringing in. she said my email was 'lovely'! we talked about the tour, live album, Gold, her, me, the websites! and loadsa other stuff! Beverley also said she'll keep my number...WoW! I also told her about this site and told her its Funky Cool - Bev said she'd try and check it out but shes the busiest shes ever been!! I was totally gob smacked, I had been talking to my Idol and it felt so natural, Beverley loves her fans and Saturday 22/6/02 was one of the best days of my life!

Saturday Show named me her biggest fan which is a Blessing - my ambiton now is to meet Bev in person, I've already chatted to her in front of 5million people, lol! *Me and Beverley Best Mates* I cant wait for all my prizes to come!!!

Michel Adam @ The Caribana Festival
Venue: Caribana Festival (Crans sur Nyon, Switzerland)

Swiss News Report
(56secs, 1.58mb, Real Media)

I had already seen Beverley twice in concert, and I wondered how the concert would be, and especially how the audience would respond to her music. The two previous concerts were great, both times Beverley was amazing and the audience loved her… and I was a little anxious, afraid to be disappointed… a little like when you get the newest album of your favorite artist.

When the music started my heart started beating faster and faster… and as soon as Beverley stepped on the stage, I knew the concert would be great… Her voice was excellent and her energy filled the whole place. Beverley really didn't need much time to charm the swiss audience…

Concerning the music, the live arrangements are really excellent. To my taste much better than on the studio recordings. One great moment of the show is when Beverley performs Chaka Khan's cover "Feel for you"… The original song is mixed with Britney Spears' "Slave" and the result is fantastic. A great way to get an audience dancing!

The song line up is also excellent… It moves you from very energetic moments to more intimate songs without any "too long" passages.

At the end of "Get up" the staff immediately started to prepare the stage for the next artist… but they didn't expect the audience's reaction… we asked for more… I truly didn't believe we would get more, as in Switzerland the festival organizers are often obsessed by time… but Beverley came back on stage and performed Coldplay's "Trouble", and she sang it fabulously!

It was really a great concert, and I really wasn't disappointed. After such a concert I simply feel "happy", refilled. Beverley is an outstanding live performer. Her energy is breathtaking, and I would compare her to Tina Turner for the inexhaustible energy and the amazing presence on a stage; but Beverley has one talent Tina doesn't really have, not only can she share her energy with the audience, she also shares her more intimate emotions and it's really clear in songs like "Sista, Sista".

In conclusion I would like to wish Beverley the same career as Tina Turner, she deserves it! And if you have the occasion to see her live, get up immediately to buy tickets… if you don't you will regret it! On thursday night in Switzerland 4000 people were conquered by a 27 year old british singer…

SJ Robertson @ The Shephards Bush Empire
Venue: UK Tour @ Shephard's Bush Empire (London, UK)
Date: Monday 20th May 2002

SJ Robertson (aka Me, hehe!!) saw Beverley Knight live in concert on the first of two London gigs on her current UK tour. I also got the chance to meet her in person, after a long cold wait outside, hehe!! And after meeting her, I've gotta say she is one of the nicest and most geniune people I've ever met! She has a lot of time for us, the fans, which is the greatest thing about Bev, and I'm so glad she is finally getting all the recognition she deserves. Fingers crossed 'Gold' will go Top 5, when it's released in June 2002. Anyway here is what I had to say 2 hours after I had met her :)

Click on the photos to see in full :)

What a nite, and I truly mean that from the bottom of my heart!!!!! She was absolutley fantastic. What a fantastic talent, that has just blown me away!!!!! I've only just got back by the way, hehe!! So this might not make sense, it's 1.25am :) Anyway I got there @ 6oclock with me sister :) And there we waited outside for an hour before the doors opened!!! I think I saw you David Rowe :) Not sure though :) You look so much younger than the foto :) hehe!! Anywayz after gettin' into the empire, I quickly went for a wee, oops shouldn't have told you that :) We waited for about an hour before Shaun came on!! And everyone was screaming @ him, I turned round and saw Will and Christina!!! (Carry on reading cos I've got loads to tell about what happened later :) Then after Shaun sang his stuff including SPACE RIDER and DAYS LIKE THESE :) we waited for another hour i think it was, time flew by though, cos me and me sister were chatting to this lovely girl called LISA from Kingston, (Hi ya if you're reading this!!! Email me and we'll send you those photos :) Then ARE YOU READY FOR ME! came on WHAT A TUNE!!! The crowd went wild and Bev waved @ me and I think she waved @ will too :) YAY!! I LOVE HER!!! I won't tell you all the stuff she did in the show, cos that'll spoil it for ya!!! But when she finished, I must quote, ONE OF THE BEST GIGS I'VE EVER SEEN!! AND I TRULY MEAN THAT!!, Christina gave me a poster to throw onto stage, we got it on there :) And she picked it up after she sang her final song!!!!! But Christina had to go a little early :( Anway when she went off the stage Will gave her he's book :) And we both asked whether we could have the set lists!!! They gave them to us :)

Anyway after saying bye to Will, me, me sister and Lisa tried getting backstage :( It didn't work, the security were not gonna let us through :( HOWEVER this did not stop us!! Our mission was still not complete!!!! hehe!!

So we all went round the side of the Shepards Bush Empire, just after I had another wee, hehe!! We waited there for ages and ages and ages and ages, it was raining too. A man was there before us called Tom (HI!) and some close friends of one of the backing singers were there aswell. Anyway after we were there watching security and everyone laugh at us, as they walked out the building :( hehe! Marshall walked out (one of the singers) I quickly got her to sign me set list. I was determined to get someone's autograph, even if it was the bouncer, lol!!! She was lovely and I told her she was gr8 tonite :) They were all off to the Bush Nightclub, for an aftershow party. And by this time we were thinking maybe Bev had left the building!! HOWEVER we carried on waiting and waiting and waiting, chattin' to some people from New Zealand and some others, while we were there, THEN SUDDENLEY @ 12.03am Beverley Knight, and I could not believe my eyes WALKED OUT OF THESE DOORS!!!!!! I nearly passed out and kept saying O MY GOD!!! lol!!!

BEV was so lovely to us!! She was so nice!!! I asked her to sign my set list which she did, then I told her about my site and how greatful i was for her sticking it in the links section of her site, and she was so thankful, AW I LOVE HER LOADS!! WHAT A STAR!!! and then I told her about the BK MASSIVE and she thought that was real funny, in the meantime we were getting loads of photos with her :) Then I said JAYZEE says hi (i said you're in denmark, lol!! but she knew who you was and said 'she's great')and that us London lot were all there tonite, and she was like WOW!! Then I asked whether she got your poster and card CHRISTINA and she said YEAH, then I asked whether she got your book WILL, and she said yes that was LOVELY. AND I JUST COULDN'T BELIEVE I WAS CHATTIN' 2 HER, SHE WAS SO NICE & RELAXED I EVEN KISSED HER ON THE CHEEK AND THEN SHE SAID 'I GET TO SLEEP IN MY OWN BED TONITE' HEHE!! Then she went, we all waved goodbye and even now 2 hours later I am still shocked and can't believe what a FANTASTIC NITE it has turned out to be!! She even waved at us as she was in her car!! :)

BEVERLEY KNIGHT IS TRULY A STAR, I'VE KNOWN THAT ALL ALONG, BUT UNTIL YOU SEE HER PERFORM LIVE, YOU JUST REALISE WHAT A DIVA SHE REALLY IS!!! :) THANKYOU SO MUCH FOR SUCH AN ENERGETIC SHOW, AN EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER, ESPECIALLY THE TRIBUTE TO STEPHEN LAWRENCE, I THINK EVERYONE IN THAT ROOM FELT IT!!! A NIGHT I'LL NEVER FORGET!! AND I LOVE HER EVEN MORE NOW, AND I FEEL SO PROUD KEEPING ME WEBSITE UPDATED FOR HER, SHE IS SO GREAT! AND 20TH MAY 2002 WAS TRULY ONE OF MY 'GREATEST DAYS'!!!!!

Rachel @ The Town Hall In Middlesborough
Venue: UK Tour @ Town Hall (Middlesborough, UK)
Date: Wednesday 15th May 2002

Rachel (@ The Gnome Shed) was one of the lucky ones to see Beverley Knight on the first night of her UK tour. Check out the review!!

The venue wasn't very big, and it looked rather scruffy too. I had a balcony seat and down below it was for people to stand, but I had a very good view of the stage. At 8.00pm Shaun Esscoffery took to the stage and entertained the crowd for 30 minutes. His voice is fantastic, he definitely has a lot of potential. Then there was a 30 minute interval before Beverley Knight came on stage. During this time, many people went off to the bar, toilets etc, but a DJ came on stage anyway and passed the time by playing some rap and r'n'b tunes. Just after nine, eagerly awaiting fans were greeted with the now familiar line of "Are you ready for me?" And with that, Bev appeared on stage and launched straight into "Whatever's Clever". Instantly you got the impression that Bev was well up for this and her voice was sounding amazing. She went through her many popular songs including "Made It Back" and "Sista Sista". Also she interacted with the crowd well, getting them to join in singin! g "The Greatest Day". She sang happy birthday to a member of the crowd too. She also had a few surprises in store, a reggae version of Kylie's "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" and a Britney Spears and Chaka Kahn mix. The audience was also introduced to the talented DJ Pogo before she continued singing her own songs. As every artist does during a concert, she said goodbye then returned to sing a couple of tracks before finishing with "Get Up". Then the lights in the hall came on, and at this point over half the audience had left the hall and the band had cleared off stage. However Beverley and a guitarist returned and she sang an acoustic version of Coldplay's "Trouble", depsite that half of the crowd had already left. I thought the concert was absolutely amazing from start to finish, her vocals were superb and she showed a great attitude towards her fans. A truly fantastic night, and a quick note - I'm 16 and I went with my mother who is 43 and I don't know who enjoyed it more! . Beverley is a brilliant performer!!!

Jayzee @ The Cully Jazz Festival 2002
Venue: Cully Jazz Festival (Cully near Lausanne, Switzerland)
Evening: Women! Jazz, Soul, RnB
Date: Saturday 16th March 2002

Click on the photo to see in full.

In advance I contacted the management if it's possible to forward the birthday greetings from my website to a crew member. I got as response that I can meet up the Tourmanager and that will be fine :). Too bad I couldn't get a backstage pass through EMI... So I went to Cully with a bit an exciting feeling in my stomach, as I was going to see Beverley for the very first time live!

The show started at 20.30 and I knew from the festival organisators that Beverley won't show up before 23.15. So what to do? I listened to the first two singers (Malia and Fontella Bass & the voices of St. Louis....a recommend here!) and checked my watch every 5 minute. As at 9pm I tried to find the tourmanager and failed (one that the security mostly spoke french...and I don't want to confess here that my French speaking is bad LOL: and the other that it seemed that he wasn't there yet). I went through the longest 2 hours ever as I tried to find the tourmanager again at 11pm. This time I had luck :). He was told already by the management that I will show up and was kind of expecting me. How fabulous is that?? :). Well, I told him about the birthday greetings and that I didn't get a backstage pass and blabla...put up my saddest face. Maybe he noticed that and asked if I would like to meet her afterwards. YES! He told me that he can't promise it, but tries if this will work out. I just have to wait after the concert in the crowd, as he is around he will pick me up then. OK, my heart made jumpers all the time. Went back to the venue where a lady spoke to everyone telling that Beverley shows up at midnight (urgh!!). Well, time to find a perfect place near stage as I was allowed to take pictures only for the first 3 songs. Waiting...waiting waiting...as the band then appeared on stage. DJ Pogo started to play the sound to Whatever's clever and Beverley sung backstage "Are you ready for me" which she repeated a few times before showing up on stage. Woa...bombastic, I can tell you. Been waiting for this moment for a few years (missed her gig in 99 AND 2001!) and was thrilled.

Beside microphone problem at the beginning (she sang but we couldn't hear her!) the concert was fabulous. (See tracklist below!). From time to time Beverley spoke som french words and I was quite surprised about that. Every song she introduced and was telling something about it. Fallen soldier is for Stephen Lawrence and Gold was for her friend. In the middle of the show DJ Pogo sampled two songs together where the band and Beverley joined to sing the Chaka Khan song "feel for you". The band had a great time on stage as they were joking around and the background singers were fabulous. Beverley was dancing around all the time, what let the crowd dance too. A really great mood was going around. I was deep impressed by the way of Beverley's voice, cause when she hit her high notes (f.e. Sista) my ears felt sore....or maybe this was just the baking singers *g*... Well the concert was too fast gone...so the crowd left and I was waiting and waiting... and sat on the stage and watched the crew to remove the band's stuff. They're really funny and time just flew away while watching them (I really like watching working folks LOL). So then the tourmanager arrived and told me that he's sorry that he let me wait, and now I could meet Beverley. Needless to say that my heart made a big jump and my stomach felt gaga. He told me that she won't have much time.......but hey, I didn't care :P Went backstage to her room where she put all her goodies together for leaving. I shaked her hand while told each one that it's nice meeting each one. She said thank you for the birthday greetings and she thought it's a very lovely idea. I told her that I did the same already last year and it seemed that it got lost in the mail she felt sorry. She told me that she has to go to the hotel, taking a shower and then goes off for a 12 hours ride to Vienna where the next concert is. Silly me was asking if she has a day off as I thought the concert was on Monday and not the following sunday. Anyway, asked her if she liked the area where the concert was and she agreed. I told her that I came from the German part of Switzerland and I had troubles with the language (I'm German speaking and the concert was in the French-speaking area!). She said that she wants to learn some German. Well, too bad the tourmanager showed up again and that was the sign for me to leave. Gave Beverley again my hand for shaking and thanked her again for this excellent concert.

In memory I think I was just a stupid fan not knowing what to ask, although I had questions from fans with me that was simply no time for them. As Beverley might visit EMI in Colougne I will send the questions to them. Probably she will have time to answer them there...

Song List:
Whatever's Clever
Made it back (I think it was remix!)
Same
Sista Sista
Shape Of You
Greatest Day
Bestseller Mystery
Fallen Soldier
Beautiful Contradiction
Shoulda Woulda Coulda
DJ Pogo sampling
Feel For You
Flavour Of The Old School
Gold
Get Up

Maybe I forgot the half to mention.....my son is sitting on my lap, makes typing hard :P. Oh and excuse me for any grammatically mistakes or whatever :D

Cheers, Jayzee :D

Xavi @ Barcelona Gig
Venue: 'Who I Am' European Tour (Barcelona, Spain)
Date: Tuesday 12th March 2002

Here is a concert review by Xavi Altimir, who got the chance to see Beverley Knight live on her European Tour.

'A real celebration of soul and r&b. That's in a very few words what Beverley showed us on Tuesday the 12th in Barcelona. After an hour-DJ session (featuring soul divas like Brandy, Chaka Khan, Mary J. Blige, Faith Evans or Sunshine Anderson) Bev appeared on stage getting ready for an unforgettable night. The opening track was "Whatever's Clever". Bev spanned great part of her classics (the follow-ups were Made it Back and Sista Sista), all along with her new tracks for about 90 minutes of jazz, blues, soul, rock and r&b. The mixture of rhymes, flavas and feelings made of it a complete sensitive experience. On top of that, Bev kept on exploring her wide-range vocals (backed by the three lovely girls on stage: Lucy, Nomvula and Laila), from the deep blue of "Bestseller Mystery" to the flourishing "Get up!". And yet she had strength to live up to the spanish rhythm and energy demands: she kept on moving and dancing around the stage cheering up the audience with some spanish efforts and her constant invitation to music.
I personally feel lucky to be one of the ones who have seen her live, and have proved her talent as a vocalist, and a songwriter (I'm still amazed by the message on "Shoulda", u'know, "her ambition wouldn't allow for compromise").
Two highlight moments: her tribute to Prince ("I feel for you"), and her ode to friendship and her best mate ("Gold"). With each song, each smile, each shy glance, Bev cast her soul spell on Barcelona, and the audience learned in less than two hours to feel the music of this british girl that had come to our city to sing, and to tell us her very own stories.'

Xavi Altimir

'I went to see Bev on Saturday 2 march to open for Jamiroquai. I went only to see her and expecting her to do say 5 or 6 songs I was really shocked when she performed 9 of her own tracks! Anyway……. The lights went low, everyone who was in the auditorium at this time screamed especially me and my friend! Our seats weren’t great so we moved and stood at the bottom of the tier so we could get a better view, but we were told we could only stand there for 5 minutes! But anyway, the lights went low and everyone screamed, my knees got week as I knew what was coming, Bevs band filed onto stage and the backup singers followed, the spotlight came on them and the band as they started playing they played the beginning of whatever’s clever and then the music stopped, the DJ scratched and then, “Are you ready for me!” she did that about 5 more times and then the beat and music came in and she walked in singing the first verse. I had never heard the song before but this was my favorite of all performances! There was so much energy and it was just brilliant. Next came a classic ‘made it back’ hearing that beginning bit was so awesome, they also changed around the music a bit in the song and it sounded great. After made it back Bev sung a new track that I had never heard before but recognised it because I had seen the song title on the site. It was ‘same (as I ever was)’ this was a brilliant funky number! There was such a great interaction with bev and her backing singers in this one, she went over and stood next to them and ok, I am analysing it too much but it was great! Next Bev sung another awesome song from the new album ‘beautiful contradiction’ her duet with musiq soulchild. However she sung it alone with aid from the backing singers and it sounded great they also slowed it down at the end and then extended it. After beautiful contradiction Bev said, “ I will now sing one of my best songs I have written,” and then the intro to sista sista began. The whole song was amazing, it sounded even better than the studio recording and at the end when Bev sings “caaaaaalllll…….. sista….” Came the most incredible crescendo of noise, with the backing singes and Bev’s voice singing sooooo high, that truly was another of my favourite performances. I then expected that get up would come next and then she would be finished, but I was wrong. “feel the flavour for your feet!” Bev sung flavour of the old school, this was also a great performance but not as good as shoulda woulda coulda, bev really got into this song and got a little bit emotional at the end. She said after that the song made her feel sad but then she said “but this one makes me feel good” and burst into Greatest Day, I was really looking forward to this performance and she did not disappoint, that got the crowd into good spirits ready for her finale…… Get Up! Which was brilliantly re-arranged musically and vocally at the end! Overall a brilliant night, I also got backstage passes for her may gig whenever that will be!!!!! I cant wait!!!!!!!!!'
